Mr. Kerry goes to Marlborough

An independent voter herself, Main Street Cafe co-owner Mary Scott says the restaurant she and her husband run in the city's downtown draws a mixed political crowd.
Yesterday morning was no exception, though a good portion of the diners sat waiting for the arrival of Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, who was scheduled to make a campaign stop with his party's local legislative hopefuls.
Outside, Democratic supporters of Acton's Jamie Eldridge, Marlborough's Danielle Gregoire, Stow's Kate Hogan and Holliston's Carolyn Dykema held signs endorsing their candidate and Kerry.
The group eyed backers of Gregoire's Republican opponent, Marlborough City Council President Arthur Vigeant, but did not seemed fazed when a woman leaned out a car window to yell, "John Kerry is no good for the nation!"
Inside, 80-year-old Helen Hesselton of Hudson, surprised by the morning crowd, ordered her usual: Two eggs, scrambled.
